Contemporary worship
At my home church (Emmanuel), we have 3 services every sunday. We have the morning family service, followed by a traditional service. We then have a contemporary evening service. Recently when I have come back from university I have realised that contemporary seems to mean very loud with a lot of elctric guitar! It was so awful on Sunday that I have said if it continues like that I will wish to stop attending the evening service. It will be interesting now that I have voiced my concerns to people if anything will happen. The reaction I got was also interesting. Apparently this "contemporary" worship (loud worship) is for the youth, and they found it very interesting that I, one of the youth was objecting to it.
Dentist Update!
Well, I went back on Thursday. He gave me a few options, so I naturally went for the most drastic one - having 2 wisdom teeth taken out! I didn't eat for 7 hours!!!!!

Weddings and worship
Today I attended the wedding of Lou and Chris at my Church (Emmanuel). The atmoshpere was amazing with such a happy vibe, with everyone praising and worshiping God with all they had to give!
It was also a great reunion of friends from all over. Friends from the Church came back - Youings and Bustins. PACT, ST Georges House, CYE. Everywhere you looked people were being reunited with old friends.

'I can only imagine'
This song is on the myspace page of one of my friends. And I haven't listened to it for a while until today. It reminded me how much I love it.

This Summer
Well so far this Summer I have been on a family holiday to St Andrews in Scotland where 9 of the family got together - a rare occassion indeed! Since I have then been the activities leader at The Quinta with PACT camps. This was both great and stressfull! Personally, I fel the team didn't quite meet the same greatness of previous years and that the most successful part of camp - the spiritual programme led by Phil and Liz, I did not get to see. My problem is that I get carried away with dreams. Everyone would have common sense, be nice and generous and give all they could just for one week. Maybe I'm just being harsh!?!?!
Anyway today I have just been to visit my grandparents in Worthing - always a treat to be taken out for lunch and have a course on the putting green (I won!)

Sorry it's been so long
Hi all, just to say sorry it's been so long! I had a severe telling off by Phil for 2 reasons. 1 - that I didn't blog frequently enough and 2 - the lack of content in the blogs.
I will now try and improve both my frequency and the content.

Nearly there - happy but getting emotional!
I just have 2 weeks left of university now and then I will have completed my first year in paediatric nursing! We have all started to pack some of the things we do not need, and are starting to get quite emotional about leaving our halls!

Camp and family
I forgot to say how last weekend, I went home and went to a camp meeting to meet the team before the summer. As te camp meeting was all day Saturday, I wasn't actually at home much but it was still very nice to see the family. The camp meeting went very well, and the team looks great - everyone seemed to get on really well (a particular 2 too much!)
Food
As I only have 4 weeks left until I finish my year at university, I am realising how easy it is to buy food when really you already have plenty. Must stop buying and start eating!
Weather
How disgusting is this weather? By the time I got into placement today, my feet were soaked through and were still wet when I go home at the end o the day. I think I might have to start taking another pair of socks to work!

How academic should nursing be?
How academic should nursing be? I think the nrsing course is getting way too academic! I personally thought that nursing is about you intrepersonal skills and being caring!?!?!

More hours OR less work
Did you ever think, that we may be able to fit everything into our days, if there were more hours in the day (or if we just had less work to do)?!?!
The Metro on Friday 8th June 2007 front page news was that The United Nations figures show that 'workaholic Britons toil away longer every wek than any other nation in the developed world.' 'A quarter of the workforce - around 7 million people - put in more than 48 hours a week.'

Healthy snacks
As part of my nursing training, we have to run an after-school club. As part of the club, we give them a healthy snack and drink. Today we did fruit kebabs which seemed to be popular, but was wondering if people and any other ideas?

Work?
Today I have been doing work - assignment and lots of paper work and other projects etc for my course. I feel like I have done quite a lot of research etc but don't actually feel like I have actully done anything. I suppose we need days lik this to be able to write the assignments!

Could you be a student nurse?
The amount of work I have after nearly one year of nursing is unbelievable! One skill they don't tell you that you really need is to be very organised!!!! Could you do it?

Busy Weekends
Sorry I haven't been very good at blogging recently - I have been very busy!
To weekends ago, I went away to Hill House, Sommerset with UWE CU. We had a great relaxin weekend, enjoying the weather, whilst learning more about God.
Last weekend,I went to The Quinta, Shropshire. This is going to be a new camp site for PACT, so some of us went for the low ropes team-building course. I went with Chris, Becky and Liz (who's parents kindly let me stay over the night). It was a great day - fun was had by all.
Tomorrow I am going home for bank holiday weekend, and for my music teachers' last school summer concert!!!!

Lost something that means alot
Isn't it sad when we have lost something that meant a lot to us? I have lost a necklace that my best friends bought me for my 18th birthday. As I am at university I haven't finished looking everywhere (lets hope its at home).
So sad though!

Hyper Nurses
Today, all the nurses on my ward seem to go hyper this afternoon. What fun! One of my friends (a fellow student) picked up the phone saying "hello, ward 33, child speaking"!!!!!!!!!! She had all the nurses plus the mum on the phone in fits of laughter. Nice to know that your child is in safe hands!

Summer is near
In Bristol, yesterday, we had such nice weather. It was like Summer had begun! It was so nice. Me and my flat mates were working inside but decided to go out for a bit and enjoy the weather! I'm glad we did, as today it's raining - not so nice.
Bring on the Summer weather!!!!!

My day "off"
Today I had a day off. I went and visited my sister in Cardiff who is in music college. It was lovely as we suddenly decided to go and play the piano - something that I really miss as I haven't really played since September (when I went to university). Such a shame when a talent goes to waste! ;-)

Soul Survivor
How amazing was soul survivor road trip in Bristol!!!! Let's hope we can all get involved in their Hope08! It has really inspired me to carry on getting involved in my new Church - something that I have been finding hard.

Baking!
How fun is baking!?!?!? Me and my flat mates had a afternoon free today so we baked. It was so nice and fun. We made a victoria sponge cake, flapjacks, choc chip cookies, brownies and pancakes in practice for 2 weeks time. Fun was had by all!!!
Weekend off
I had a whole weekend off!!! This must have been my first whole weekend off since mid December. It was so nice. I was able to catch up on things like tidying and cleaning my room. I then started to get my head around my next assignment. I also went to Church for the first time in a month. Afterwards some of the studnts from Church decided to have lunch together so that was really nice, as we are still all getting to know each other.

So much paperwork
Well, I had a late shift at hospital on Sunday. It was so quiet - the quietest some nurses have ever seen it. Me and another fellow student did paperwork for the whole shift! I was very proud! It was actually really useful. There is so much paperwork, it's really good just to have a day of it. Normally on your day off you have so much else to do, let alone sleep! Anwway am off ill today - along with half the flat. Not good.

Charity
Do you ever get the feeling that you put a lot in to a charity, or give up a lot of time for someone, and then you totally get taken for granted?
Nursing is hard!
I tell you, nursing is a very hard course! Nothing can prepare you for it. Most students only do about 9hours a week, whereas here we are doing between 50 and 60 hours. There is the placement, the paperwork for the placement, the assignments, the lectures. Then you get woken up by people not on placement or the delivery men on your "day off" (which is actually a day for paperwork and assignment)!
A New Year
Well, after starting a blog a few months ago (and not keeping it up to date), I have decided that a new year means a new beggining. I will now try and keep my blog up to date!
